When this client hired Alessia Loffredo and Sarah Coscarelli of reDesign Home their scope of the project was to create a space that could allow the family to gather during meal prepping, entertaining and create wonderful memories. Their main concern was the scale of the original kitchen. Upper cabinetry and appliances were not proportionally sized compare to the large kitchen space, the island featured an odd shape and did not allow for enough sittings, the pantry door located in the butler pantry was limiting for an easy traffic flow and use of the space; also the window by sink area was lacking interest. We reconfigured the pantry door by having direct access from the kitchen and dedicated a separate bar area in the butler pantry. Also introduced a focal point with a large built-in hood over cook station to create a balance with the family room fireplace located opposite to the kitchen. The island became not only larger to allow enough sitting but a unique element in the space due to the introduction of unique finishes and design, also the window was highlighted with the introduction of mill work that connected design elements throughout the kitchen/bar.

 

Before and After Kitchen Renovation

Let’s be honest… the kitchen wasn’t bad but there were many details that weren’t working for this family of six, including the kitchen island.

This is a photo of during the renovation. Being without a place to cook at is not an easy task, but it’s so worth when this the result you get!!!

After:

Isn’t worth to go through a renovation to have a kitchen like that?! This kitchen is not only beautiful but it’s much more practical; it offer more storage and it accommodates all of this family’s needs.

Ceiling is about 11 foot tall. Drywall wall repainted after adjusting lighting and electric and we kept existing wooden beams.

Kitchen Island

What an authentic design! The island paint color is Onyx by Benjamin Moore.

Island countertop: Porcelain, resembling Calacatta marble.

Kitchen Island Dimensions: 96”x48”x36”H

Hood & Backsplash

The new kitchen hood features custom Tongue and Groove paneling.

Backsplash: Over the cooking area we have installed a 4”x12” ceramic matte white tile by The Fine Line – similar here & here.

Flooring: Wood with a custom blend stain highlighting a mix of ebony and gray – similar here.

Wall Paint Color

Wall paint color is Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter.

Backsplash: In kitchen we have applied 18” of T&G to tie the look of the oversized hood.

Counterstools: Counter stools were existing and client particularly like them so my design was also created by making sure that such stool set was going to fit with the overall design – Similar Style: here & here – Other Beautiful Counterstools: here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here & here.

Kitchen Sconces: Rejuvenation.

Cabinet Paint Color

Kitchen Cabinets: We color-matched to existing trim color paint as the trimwork was installed throughout the house and did not want to disrupt the consistent vibe with the current open floor plan. The color is similar to Benjamin Moore Simply White.

Perimeter Countertop

Countertop is Quarzite. I don’t have a specific name for the slabs we have used. We found and marked it at the slab yard during our visit and I loved it because had a leathered honed finish. It’s smooth to the touch!

Kitchen Faucet

Kitchen Faucet: Georgian Era bridge faucet by Perrin and Rowe in unlaquered brass finish.

Kitchen Cabinetry Style

Kitchen Cabinet Details: Painted Maple cabinetry, Insert door, Shaker style.

Appliance Garage

Retractable doors open to an appliance garage with shelves.

Butler’s Pantry

What a gorgeous Butler’s Pantry! Black cabinetry looks so good with brass accents, right?! Lower cabinet paint color is Benjamin Moore Onyx. The upper cabinets is made out of metal. Open back allows the large subway tiles to add contrast and depth.
