5 Customizable Closet System Features Offered By TheRTAStore

When it comes to quality cabinets for the home, it’s no secret that TheRTAStore is the place to shop! Whether it’s a dream kitchen, home bar, bathroom, laundry room, home office or TV room, we offer affordable, ready to assemble and pre assembled cabinetry and accessories for tackling that home renovation checklist on a budget. But did you know TheRTAStore now offers custom closet systems too? Read on to learn more!

Unit Size: Our closets are made to order and custom cut for your specific space — you won’t find any stock sizes here! Our expert design team can help you determine the perfect height and depth to maximize your storage area. However, we do recommend minimizing each unit to 40 inches or less in width to ensure the hanging bars you select will properly support the weight of your clothing. FYI, our wall mounted system hangs on steel rails that can handle up to 1,100 lbs (per eight foot), when properly installed! Working with a designer also allows you to understand all of the options available and decide which ones are right for your dream closet system.

7-31-20 RTA2-Custom Closet SystemHanging Rods: Our custom closets feature several different types of hanging rod units. The most common are the double-hang rod and full height hang-rod. As the name implies, the double hang rod is a two rod configuration. The first rod is located near the top, and the second is positioned halfway down, splitting the unit into two distinct sections for shirts and pants. Typically, each section offers a height of about 39-40 inches. On the other hand, a full height hang-rod is unobstructed by a middle rod, allowing room for longer items like dresses and jackets.

If you are concerned about reaching the top bar, an adjustable shelf can be added above, making your clothing easier to access. This is especially advisable if your unit exceeds 90 inches in total height. Other options include a 3/4″ hanging rod, which places the rod lower in the unit, allowing for multiple shelves above, and a triple hang rod that splits the closet into three equal sections for accommodating childrens’ clothing. Of course, any hanging rod can be customized to fit shoe shelves, drawers, and cubbies to suit your exact needs and desires.

Drawer Stacks: Like our hanging rods, drawer stacks can be customized with any number of drawers at varying heights (3.75″, 5″, 6.25″, 7.5″, 8.75″, 10″, 11.25″, and 12.5″ to be specific). Each drawer has its own purpose, whether it’s a shallow drawer for housing socks, lingerie and jewelry, or a deep drawer for pajamas, t-shirts and jeans. Again, our expert design team can listen to your needs and help you determine which drawers to include in your closet system. All our drawers come standard with soft closing, full extension, undermount glides. While our drawer stacks can be customized, please note that drawers add more of an expense to your overall closet design.

young man arranging the closetShelves: The space above the drawer stacks is typically reserved for additional shelves. These shelving units can be also customized with any number of shelves, whether adjustable or fixed. There is also an option to add doors in front of the shelving units to keep dust at bay. Other shelving possibilities include sliding wire baskets, tilt out hampers in two widths (with removable laundry bags for easy transport to the laundry room), and shelves made specifically for shoes (with a functional slant and fenced edge that matches your hardware and rods). We also offer corner shelving units (filler shelves) to maximize every bit of storage space available.

Doors And Accessories: Like our quality cabinets, we offer a wide selection of custom closet systems to compliment any decor. Choose from eight colors and five different door styles, with an assortment of accessories to complete the look. Options include clear or frosted glass doors, valet rods, sliding belt and tie racks, velvet jewelry trays, and sliding accessory hooks (for necklaces or smaller hanging items). We also offer lingerie organizers, pants hangers, and so much more!

Stylish Ways To Add An Appliance Garage To Your Kitchen

The organization is very important especially in the case of areas such as the kitchen where there’s a lot going on, lots of storage, lots of different features and not a lot of space to work with. Relying on clever and space-efficient storage systems is helpful but it’s also important to find a smart and practical way to organize the space. Creating an appliance garage is a really cool idea because it lets you group up small appliances into one spot where they’re accessible and out of the way at the same time. Here are some design options you might like.

This beautiful white kitchen has a little appliance garage for things like the coffee maker and the toaster. It’s an extension of one of the upper cabinets and it fits into the open space between the cabinet and the counter. It’s also positioned in the corner which is typically unused. This stylish design was created by BARRETT STUDIO architects.

There are several ways in which you can design an appliance garage. As mentioned before, the corner spaces are ideal for this because they’re not typically used for anything else, they’re out of the way but still very accessible and they’re very customizable. This is a closed appliance garage which has a door that easily lifts up to reveal the contents without being in the way. It’s a custom setup created by studio Nystrom Design.

This elegant appliance garage fits at the end of the kitchen peninsula and blends in seamlessly when the door is closed. It also features a very interesting design in the sense that there are individual pull-out trays for each appliance. This makes them more accessible and makes it easy to keep the cabinet organized. This small detail makes a big difference in the big picture. This beautiful kitchen was designed by etA ARCHITECTURE.

Placing and storing small appliances on the counter is comfortable and spares you the effort of having to take them out of a cabinet every time you want to use them. Dedicating a section of the kitchen counter to this can prove beneficial, especially if the space is big enough. This kitchen designed by Meier Residential is an inspiring example. Also, if you decide to go with an open design, consider adding task lighting.

Separating the appliance garage into distinct modules or having more than one is also an option. This decision can be based on a desire to make these modules blend into the cabinetry or to create dedicated sections for different types of appliances. Of course, there’s no need to overthink the design. Something simple like this can work out great in most kitchens.

Rondo Kitchen designed by Team7

There are a few more details to consider when planning your appliance garage. If you want to close it so the appliances are concealed and out of the way most of the time, you need to choose a type of door. Rolling doors are a nice option for casual kitchens. An advantage is that they can be completely open or partially open so only one section of the appliance garage is visible. That gives you the option to have a tall appliance garage with multiple shelves.

Designed by KnockKnock. Photography by Olga Soboleva.

Folding doors are a good option if you want your appliance appliance garage to blend in and match the cabinetry. They also give you easy access inside without being in the way when open and they’re more versatile and easier to install compared to other types of doors.

Lift up doors are really easy to open and close and on top of that they look very simple and clean and blend in effortlessly with the rest of the kitchen. They suit modern and contemporary designs and they’re very practical and space-efficient which is important in small kitchens.

Designed by Bowa.

If your appliance doesn’t offer enough clearance for regular doors to swing open and closed, consider sliding doors instead. Just like lift up doors, they’re very convenient and they go really well with modern and contemporary kitchens which are typically very simple-looking. In addition to that, you can also disguise sliding doors as a backsplash and that gives you a secret storage space behind them.

Designed by Kim Duffin for Sublime Architectural Interiors.

Storing small appliances on the kitchen counter is not ideal because that limits the total usable counter space you have and can also give the room a cluttered and disorganized look. Storing them at the back of a bottom cabinet is not practical either because it makes it difficult to take them out every time. A rising appliance garage however lets you combine these two options. The idea is that the appliance garage rises up out of the counter whenever you need it and can then be lowered back down, giving you full use of the counter.

Designed by Darren James Interiors.

Whether you swing them open, slide them or lift them up, the doors of an appliance garage can still sometimes be in the way. Tuck-in doors address this issue by providing a little pocket where the doors can fit so you have full access to the space inside from all sides. They’re very versatile and can even fit in corners.

Top 3 Renovations That Add Value To Your Home

If you are like most homeowners, you have a long renovations checklist of projects to complete “someday.” But that dream bathroom or high-end kitchen doesn’t have to wait. If you read our recent blog, The 3 Best DIY Tips For Remodeling On A Budget, you know that with a little know-how and a can-do attitude, you can achieve a stunning end result without spending a fortune.

Shopping online at The RTA Store, doing some of the work yourself, and being mindful of sales are smart choices when crossing off items on your home renovations checklist. With that said, it’s also wise to focus your efforts on updates that offer the greatest return on investment when renovation project planning. Read on to learn about the top three renovations that add value to your home.

A high-end kitchen is key.

The kitchen is the heart of the home and a hub for friends and family to gather. And it’s not just for your own enjoyment. According to HGTV, the kitchen can “make or break the sale of a house.” Potential buyers look for elements typically found in a high-end kitchen, like granite countertops, quality cabinets and appliances, and convenient features like a pull-out pantry and inside cabinet accessories that help with organization.

In their 2019 remodeling impact report, the National Association of Realtors estimates that homeowners can recoup 52% of the cost of a kitchen upgrade when selling their home, and sometimes even more. That is why a kitchen remodel tops this list and is one of the best investments to make when renovation project planning and looking to boost your home’s value.

7-28-20 RTA2-Brilliant White ShakerDon’t overlook the bathroom.

Where do you go when you need a little “me time” or simply want to unwind. The bathroom, of course! A dream bathroom is another sure-fire investment on your renovations checklist. According to moving.com, part of the realtor.com network, homeowners can easily expect to recoup over 60% of the cost to remodel when selling. If you are on a tight budget, high-value upgrades to focus on include a new bathroom vanity (including faucets and sinks), bathroom hardware, and flooring. A walk-in shower (and/or soaking tub) is also a nice addition and one that you (and future buyers) will certainly appreciate!

7-28-20 RTA3-Phoenix Caramel GlazeAdd liveable square footage.

It’s no secret that building an addition can add major value to your home. So can adding more liveable space. Whether it’s converting an unused corner into a home office or extra TV room, creating an outdoor living space, or adding an amazing closet system, laundry room, or home bar. You could even design an incredible garage hangout! According to Open Door, home size and usable space really do matter, and are critical factors that influence a home’s value.

At The RTA Store, we help make your dream home a reality with RTA (ready to assemble) and pre-assembled cabinets and accessories. Whether it’s your kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, home office, home bar, or TV room, we offer the same (if not better) quality you would find at any retail store, but for a fraction of the price. Stop by our website or give us a call, and let us make your dreams come true with the help of our free room design service.

How to choose Quartzite or Granite Kitchen Island

How to choose Quartzite or Granite Kitchen Island

United Granite PA Kitchen Gallery

The layout of the kitchen with the island has the idea of functional comfort and compactness – what is needed in this area should be placed at arm’s length. The standard dimensions of the island furniture complex: height 900 mm, width – over 1 meter, length – 0.6-1.5 and more meters.

A traditional island in the kitchen should be placed if the total area of the premises is more than 20 square meters. For a relatively small room, 15-20 square meters. m compact, folding or mobile options are selected, such as in the photo below.

Dimension Details

A kitchen with an island is convenient due to the installation of another working area in the room. By installing an island element, up to 25% of the effective working area is added. In addition, you can bring electrical outlets and install appliances, arrange an oven or sink.

So, the main dimensions of the island must comply with these rules:

  • Standard table height – 92 cm;
  • If the kitchen often requires work that requires effort (for example, kneading dough), then the countertop is performed lower – 76 cm;
  • If the island will replace the dining table, then the minimum distance between the seat of chairs and the top of the countertop is 300-320 mm. The tabletop length of the island table can be calculated on the principle of 600 mm per one sitting.

And in order to use the island it was convenient, you need to follow the rule of the working triangle – the stove, refrigerator and sink should be located at a distance of 1.5 meters, and these points should form a triangle when connected.

Kitchen Island Shapes

The layout of the kitchen with the island may include central elements of the following forms:

  1. The rectangle is the most traditional and common form for the island, fits perfectly into small elongated spaces.

United Granite PA Kitchen Gallery

  • A square island is placed in square-shaped kitchens , or in case the set is located in a U-shaped pattern.

United Granite PA Kitchen Gallery

  • The semicircular shape is perfect for an island with a bar, while the rounded part should be on the side of the bar, as shown in the photo.

United Granite PA Kitchen Gallery

  • The most convenient island in the kitchen is a U-shaped or open-circle table, since it allows you to place everything you need within walking distance.

United Granite PA Kitchen Gallery

Large kitchen islands can be visually made easier by equipping them with open shelves and drawers with glass facades or even choosing a table without decorations, and of course, the white color will make it much less bulky

What are the advantages of the island

By setting a table island, you lose from 1 to 3 square meters. m of area and several centimeters of height (to summarize the communications you will need to raise the floor). But you will gain much more:

  1. Ergonomics – the island stands in the center of the kitchen, being one of the vertices of the working triangle, and at the same time contains a lot of useful functions. It is very convenient to move around the kitchen during cooking, while several people can cook and chat with him.
  2. Functionality – theoretically, an island in the kitchen can replace a full-fledged headset, completely freeing the wall. After all, it may contain:
    • Hob and oven (in this case, an extractor hood is installed above the island);
    • Household appliances: dishwasher, small refrigerator or wine rack;
    • Spacious worktop, replacing a cutting table, and if necessary – a bar counter;
    • Additional storage facilities for dishes, cutlery, etc.
  3. The island can play the role of a table or bar (breakfast counter). That is, if in the dining room it is better to have dinner and lunch with the family, then it is more convenient to have breakfast and a snack in the kitchen at such an island table.
  4. In the interior of a large kitchen, it looks chic and monumental, but the design of the island can be carried out in a variety of forms, sizes, colors and styles. Therefore, even if your kitchen is not spacious enough not to think about saving space at all, you can choose narrow and small models.
  5. The island delicately but clearly shares the space of a combined kitchen-living room or kitchen-dining room.

Beautiful Homes of Instagram: French Farmhouse

Hello, my wonderful friends! How are you today? I hope everything is good in your life and everyone is healthy, after all, that’s fundamental in our lives.

From time to time I like to, very carefully, select some talented homeowners I find on Instagram to feature on our “Beautiful Homes of Instagram” series. I have learned a lot since I have started this series back in 2016. I have learned that having a beautiful home isn’t enough for me. The homeowner’s personality and taste must be reflected in each space and, unfortunately this is quite rare these days. Homes on Instagram have become showrooms and that’s not something I am interested showcasing in this series. I want you to feel throughout the post that the house truly feels like a home and it reflects the homeowners’ real personality because this is the type of home you create for yourself; a home where you feel welcomed and comforted by every room.

Today’s “Beautiful Homes of Instagram” reflects everything I have mentioned above and more, much more. Katy’s home, of @r.house__ (make sure to follow her!), has her personality stamped in each corner, in each detail, and you can’t help but feel embraced by her taste and choices. This is a home with soul and it certainly reflects its homeowner’s taste and lifestyle. Here, Katy shares more details:

“Hi there! My name is Kathy Rich, and I am so happy to share with you my home today. A homebody by nature, my home is incredibly important to me, and I believe mine is a true product of labor, and love. I hope that translates in the photos, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to showcase it here on Home Bunch, the home of design inspiration for so many.

When people ask me to describe my style, I never quite know what to say. So many styles are appealing to me. But I suppose I best fit into the French Farmhouse style, with an eclectic mix of old and new furnishings, decor, refinished, customized, store bought, and lot’s of naturals! My European influence is very apparent in my gardens, greenhouse, and all of curvy and distinct furnishings throughout the home. I will be sharing with you just about all the rooms (excluding my bathrooms and a study that is very hard to shoot due to the angle), and exterior spaces in my home. So you are about to see a lot of custom furnishings, woodwork, and finishes, as our home has been completely, designed, styled, and built by us.”

I hope you enjoy the tour!

Beautiful Homes of Instagram: French Farmhouse

“Our journey to create the home of our dreams, started over twenty years ago when we found a home in a small town just north of Boston, Massachusetts. The small, and quiet suburb, had great appeal. Lot’s of land, great schools, and a wonderful community. The not so good part, we were buying the worst house in town, A square, concrete box built into the side of hill, flat roof, and devoid of all light and charm. I certainly wasn’t sold at first glance, but my husband was. The eternal optimist, he saw an unbelievable opportunity. An opportunity to make the home our dreams, lots of land to spread out and grow, and all for a fraction of the cost of other homes in the same community. So he convinced me, and we embarked on our journey. A journey that really hasn’t ended, and that may ultimately never end, as our home evolves with us. I hope the takeaway from all this, is that home doesn’t mean, pricey furniture, expensive hired hands, and conventional design. Home is creating spaces that you and your family love and can live in comfortably, no matter how you get there, not matter what your budget is. Home-sweet-home can be achieved with just four walls, hard work, creativity, and of course, perseverance.”
